Dear Margaret,
In the ALVORD Book (1908 by Samuel Morgan Alvord), I have found what must be your family but instead of Silas, the ALVORD's name is Hiram P.
Hiram P. Alvord, born Hartland, NY, April 1, 1831; married 1855, Elsie J. Robinson.Resided Johnson's Creek and North Ridgeway, NY.Children:
1. Helen married Frank Bowen and resided County Line Corners, NY.
2. Ina (Inez??)married Frank Hooker and resided in Manitoba.
3. Arza P. married Docia Courser and resided in North Ridgeway, NY.Was a farmer and had two children--Louie and Leah.

Zelotes, Phineas, Phineas, Thomas, Thomas, Thomas, and Alexander (in America) and a couple more generations known in England.
Hiram resided on the farm which is father first settled when he came to Niagara Co. NY from Vermont. It seems they were in the county next to Orleans.Hiram's parents were Zelotes Alvord, born Nov. 17, 1790 VT, and Ruth Ann Richardson, born 1800 VT.He died 1835 and she died Nov. 1875, both in Hartland, NY.He was killed when felling trees, she died of cancer.Dates of death for Hiram and Elsie are not given in this book.
