Debra, I think we can trace Woodrow Harris and his father Benjamin Cullen back to New Kent Co. VA in the late 1600's although some of the connections are not necessarily poured in concrete (proven to be fact). We find Benjamin living with his parents Augustus Harris Alford and Margaret _______ in the 1900 census of Escambia Co.In 1910 and 1920, Benjamin is still in Escambia Co. with wife Nannie and Kate L. in 1910 and Katie, J. C., George, Harris (Woodrow Harris?), and Faris in 1920.I have 3 Escambia Co. marriages for a Fairis/Fairris C. Alford but can't say I can match up all of the others with spouses. We do have the marriage of Woodrow H. as being Jul 24, 1947, Escambia Co. Augustus Harris Alford was the son of Cullen Alford and Rebecca Ann Hodge who married in Montgomery Co. AL, Aug 22, 1836.In 1850and 1860 they are found in Henry Co., however Cullen does not seem to be there in 1860 although we don't have a death date until 1875.I don't have the 1870 AL census yet but will see if I can find them then. We don't have a lot of Escambia Co. records but the census shows (Augustus) Harris there in 1880(married c1874?) and 1900.He died in 1915 and his wife in 1914.The only marriages I know we have there prior 1900 are those of two of Augustus' brothers--Robert L. Alford married Lula P Griffin, Nov 7, 1880; and Tilman R. Alford married Mary Crook there, Dec. 24, 1884. We will be happy to share additional information with you.
