Randie, Actually they may have been in Bastrop Co. in 1870, but Eliza's family was in Lee Co. in 1880 and the marriage of Eliza Alford and J. M. Jackson occurred in Lee Co. in 1884, so they were in Lee Co. before 1880, not before 1900. Some of the first children may have been born in Lee Co. also.Where was James' family from (in 1880?).Some of the Alford relatives were in Bastrop for a time and it seems that this family was very mobile (at least the Alford side).I don't know why they went to so many TX counties when they migrated from AL and some of the family stayed in AL. It may be that Allen Alford had two wives named Polly/Mary, but that may be difficult to prove unless we can contact descendants of the older children who have information on their grandmother and it differs from yours. The Polly who was his wife in 1860 was supposedly born 1825 GA and the one in 1880 was born 1826 SC.We think they are the same person but who knows.Allen was the son of Baldy (which may actually have been William's name instead of BALL?) and Elizabeth _______. They were from St. Clair Co. AL.Where did you get Birmingham as a place they lived?I was recently in touch with descendants of Mary Elizabeth.I guess they named two daughters with Elizabeth as a middle name. We have an AAFA Photo Archives and would be especially happy to have copies of your old photographs (will pay for copies and postage).
