Dear David, Don't you mean the only children--not siblings??I don't know that AAFA knows where Harvey fits in.Do you know where he was born? Do you know where and when they married? We have the 1850 and 1860 Jersey Co. IL census which seems to indicate the following:Harvey was born 1815-1818 possibly in VA (our 1850 extract has ??); Mary was born 1810 OH and seems to have been deceased by 1860.In 1850, there are three Turner step-children (children of Mary)--Henry, Maria and Thomas--plus the two Alford children you named--James born 1845 and Julia born 1847.All of the children were born in IL so I assume this couple married betwen 1840 and 1844 in IL.In 1860, Harvey appears to have a different wife--Margaret, born 1819 TN, and besides James, there is a three-year-old Sarah who I assume is the daughter of Margaret. This enumeration was on page 4.On page 16 of the same township (Rich Woods), it seems Maria Turner has married Ira Briggs and a possible older brother NC? Turner is living with the family as well as a 2-year old Thomas Turner.Julia Alford (spelled OLFORD) is also living in this household rather than with Harvey? If you have additional information that might help identify Harvey, I would be happy to have it.When did he die?If still living in 1880, where did he say his parents were born?If we could find him in 1840, that would also help, but if he was living with parents, he would not have been a head of household. We have VA Alford families that went to IN from several different lines. If VA was not his birthplace then he could be a descendant of the New England family. Since Jersey Co. IL is on the Mississippi River, there is no telling where he could have come from--all points east and some south. No other Alfords are living in Jersey Co. IL in either 1850 or 1860. Sorry not to be of more help.
