Winfield Scott ALFREY was the son of Joseph Alfrey b abt 1822 IN and Theresa Unknown b abt 1821 PA.I need to find this marriage!The 1860 census of Pulaski co.,IL, Caledonia P.O., page 408 lists the following:Joseph 38 IN, Theresa 39 PA, James D. 13IN, Mary E. 12 IN, Arabella 11 IN, Winfield Scott 8 IL, Joseph F. 6 IL, Tabitha 3 IL, and Ellen 2 IL.
1850 census of Jefferson co., IN, Milton twp., page 200: Joseph Alphrey 27 IN, Thersey 29 PA, James D. 4 IN, Mary E. 2 IN, and Arabel 1 IN.Also listed: Thesly J. KANE 9 PA.
1850, same census, page 199: John Alfrey 53 laborer IN, enumerated with Sterling Bunderant.
I believe that John Alfrey was the father of Joseph.John was probably the one md. to Polly MUNFORD/MANFORD in 1815.They had a son named Ambrose J., who md. Sarah VESTAL, and died in Jefferson County, IN abt 1848.Sarah and children Lovina and Caroline are on page 219 of the 1850 Shelby twp., Jefferson Co., IN census.
John is said to be the son of James Alfrey and Christina Unknown, of Nicholas County, KY and Switzerland Co., IN.
