We may possibly have a lot to talk about but at this point I don't know yet. Let's see where shall I start????
Most of my family comes from El Rito and the surrounding area including Taos,Abiquiu,Ojo Caliente, and other locations. We also go up into Colorado and even reached Wyoming. My great grandfather on the Jaramillo side was in the livestock business. Now my two family sides are the Jaramillo-Negrete line and the Gonzales line(one of the many). Now on the Gonzales side we actually have a member who married into an Alire family.
It's a bit of a long story but let me start with my Gonzales side. My great grandfather Pedro Albino Gonzales had a sister(at least I believe she is,if not then she was a cousin but she was definately related.) Her name was Ana Maria del los Reyes Gonzales. She married an Anastacio Gallegos. They obviously had children and one of them was thier daughter whose name was Maria Encarnacion Gallegos. Now Maria married a man by the name of Hypolito Alire and they had about six children.
I've been attempting to track them down and make contact with them in hopes of also making a possible connection with the Gonzales side of my family as well. As I figure it the Alire side would or could possibly still have ties with the Gonzales side or at least put me into contact with them. Plus they are also realted as well, so the more the marrier!
Now Hypolito may have been married more than once because Maria Encarnacion died around 1940- 1941. She couldn't have been more than about 28 or so when she died. She was living at first in El Rito and then later the whole family was living in Ojo Caliente. which is where she is susequently burried. According to a copy of a census record I have from 1930 her mother(Ana Maria del los Reyes Gonzales) and my great grandfather Pedro Albino Gonzales were living with her. Pedro died a year before Maria Encarnacion did in 1940. At some point something happened to her parents because according to some records from the mormon library that I attained through a friend my great grandfather and his wife Maria Isabel Lucero adopted Maria Encarancion which made her, technically, a great aunt instead of a cousin.
The names of thier children are as follows:
Eufelia Alire born August 7, 1924 Ojo Caliente christened August 22 1924 in El Rito New Mexico
Maria Floraida Alire born Sep 26, 1926 Ojo Caliente Christened Oct 17, 1926 El Rito New Mexico
Cristina Roberta Alire born August 28, 1929 Ojo Caliente Christened September 30, 1929 El Rito New Mexico
Hypolito Roman Alire born August 13 1931 Ojo Caliente Christened Aug 30, 1931 El Rito New Mexico
Jose Miguel Alire born September 7, 1936 Ojo Caliente Christened Oct 4 1936, El Rito New Mexico
Gomocindo Tomas Alire born Dec 12, 1937 Ojo Caliente Christened Jan 2, 1938 El Rito New Mexico
Now Maria Floraida had a son but I think he may have been an illegitimate child. His name was Oracio Arturo Alire (r Alires (the info my friend gave me has him listed as Alires but it could be a typo but I am not sure. it's just what she typed in an email to me not in any kind of record) He was morn on March 8, 1940 in Ojo Caliente and chirstened in El Rito New Mexico April 6, 1940
Now I have a lead on an Hypolito R Alire that lives in Albuquerque but have not had success in contacting him yet. I am having a primo of mine that lives in the area look into it for me.I have not had any success finding any of the other kids. they are all mostly dead by now probably and maybe a few are around but I do no know who thier immediate families are so until I find out I am kind of stuck.
Does any of this sound familiar to you at all???If so then please email me back ASAP!If not email me anyway, I'd like to talk to you about the Alire name and hear a little about your journey so far.Take care, Dana Gonzales
