yippee--- I LOVE it when we make a connection (I'm more and more convinced we are ALL cousins anyway). I live in Farmville ,Va-just about smack in the middle of the state. We have a Universitey-Longwood and a collage-Hampden-Sidney(very prestigious established in 1774 or 5)Generaly we have all the small town niceties and plenty of cultural events as well. My husband of 30some years teaches HS Hx nearby and I am a happily unemployed RN-no lack of job offers mine you, but I like my freedom and my Grandchildren. After 20 years as his Navy wife-this suits me fine. We spend "off hours" working on our c.1910 house. One set of my Grands lives about 20miles away-inafarhouse older than ours!! I THINK my Barber's were in western Pa-but the more I look, the more I find them all over the place. My info indicates tha John Barber came from Irelandin 1821. He was a Scote-Irish cabinent maker. He married Susann Townsend 24 Oct 1843)her father Isaac Townsend is our Rev War connection-but none of us can find Isaac's parents. My father Emerson Leslie Allan, My Mom and brother moved to Buffalo,NY in the early 40'. That gave Dad a chance alter his name and he was known as E. leslie or even more to his liking Les until his death in 2000. Trust me,If we are at all related, you may have a few odd genes, but they are sturdy!!!! I know Soooo little about the Barbers. Any help would be appreciated. Pateraly I have some info on Cochrans,McGearys, Leslies, McGearys, Koneigs and Hartzels. Maternally some note on Jenkins,Jamison,GreensDavies,Godfrey, Steis and Logan. Feel free to contact me. SOOO.....where are you on this big blue marble?
