I realise that I omitted to say that the Clergyman with the Irish twist in his "brogue" was my Grandfather, William Allan, son of Joseph, who, after emmigrating in 1910, was a missionary to the West-coast tribes in BC durng the 'teens and 20's. He settled finally in Victoria.
re Gary Allan's message:His Robert Callendar Allans might possibly beson/grandson of my Gt.Uncle Robert. As far as I know, the men of my Grandfather's generation were not given a second name. If his father was born in '27, then it is possible that his grandfather was born about 1900, give or take several years. This would fit with him being my Gt. Uncle's son...
I have no idea about what happened to Robert Allan, apart from living in Dundee in the 1890's/1900's and his having a daughter Mary.
Gary, we should talk. I am in Montreal, too.
