Hi Allan You've probably given up hope anyone would hear your message! A group of us are descended from Isabella Allan, sister of the very same Robert Allan who married Isabella Reed/Reid in Geelong, Vic 1875. They had 9 children - 6 survived childhood and then 2 died in WW1 - Jack Gadsby Allan and Ernest William Allan, leaving Robert, Lizzie May, Amy Blanche and Clyde.
Isabella Allan married Henry Thomas Wardle in Ballarat, Vic in 1884. Because we only recently discovered that her brother Robert Allan came to Western Australia abt 1916, where some of us live, we've only this last week started to document the descendants and have quite a lot of data now (asking the older people and searching the indexes).
We also can help you with ancestors of Robert and Isabella Allan: Their parents were (yet another) Robert Allan (born Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1818) and Janet Sim (born Eagelsham, Renfrewshire Scotland abt 1820) who came to Australia in 1852 with the first 2 of their children, James and Janet, and her 2 children from a previous marriage. They then had 5 more children! Robert the elder was a wright and invented a safety cage for miners on the Ballarat goldfields. Please contact me to obtain more information about the Western Australian arm. Perhaps you'd like to join our cousin-group? I am at jenniib(at)iinet.net.au [replace the (at) with @ - prevents spam]
