The Will of Mercy Roberts, Hancock County, Ohio, 1861
Although not proven here, these are probably the children of Daniel Allard, perhaps b 1751 in VT or 1766 in Canada, and Mercy Bickford. Mercy Allard was the wife of Samuel Roberts.

In the name of the Benevolent Father of All, I Mercy Roberts of Marion township Hancock county Ohio, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament.
Item 1stIt is my will that the expense of my last sickness funeral expenses & all past debts be paid.
Item 2dI give and devise to the children of my sister Almira McEntire in fee simple the west half of the northwest quarter of section twelve (12) township one north range eleven east, containing 79½ acres. Said children referred to in this item are Benjamin McEntire, William G. W. McEntire, Jane Leaf, Samuel McEntire, Mary McEntire, Sarah McEntire, & Lucinda McEntire & are to have said land in this item described share and share alike.
Item 3dI give and devise to my brother William G. W. Allard & his heirs & assigns the following real estate situated in said county of Hancock, Ohio to wit the east half of the north east quarter of section eleven (11) containing 80 acres more or less being same premises upon which said Allard now resides.
Item 4~I give and devise to my sisters Experience Norton Martha Place and Jane L Newman share and share alike in fee simple to each and their heirs the following real estate situated in the county of Hancock and the state of Ohio to wit the west half of the north east quarter of section eleven (11) township one (1) north, Range eleven east. Also the west half of the south east quarter of section eleven (11) township one (1) north range eleven east containing in all of item 4 one hundred and sixty acres more or less.
Item 5~Explanatory of item 2d of this will, I have sold to William G. W. McEntire one half acre of said tract in said item described & said item too include only what I still own devises[?] - to wit 79½ acres
Item 6~Explanatory of item 3d I have conveyed a small part of said tract for school house site & intered in item 3d to devise the balance only as devises[?] stated to my said brother, being 79¾ acres so devised to him
Item 7~I do hereby nominate and appoint William G. W. Allard Executor of this my last will and testament
Item 8I desire no sale of my personal estate but wish my said executor to make such disposition as I may hereafter direct verbally or in writing
I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made ratifying and confirming this
In testimony whereof I have hereunto fit[?] my hand and seal this 16th day of July A. D. 1861

Included in this file, in addition to the Will, are a Proof of Will; schedules of Inventory, Appraisal, and Sale; schedules B, C, and D related to the financial aspects of the estate; signed receipts for the disbursement of proceeds from the estate; and other various required legal documents.
After expenses, the estate had a final balance of $796.71, coming substantially from contracted sales of farm products. These receipts were disbursed among the family as per Schedule "D":
The executor say: said Mercy Roberts left no child or children nor husband surviving her & said same must be divided among her brothers & sisters & their heirs as follows: To Experience Norton, Martha Place, Jane L Aikins - whose name [sic]formey was Newman and W. G. W. Allard each one equal eighth part -and to the heirs Elizabeth Barnes one eighth part -to the heirs of Joseph Allard one eighth part -to the heirs of Lovina Oliver one eighth part & to the heirs of Almira McEntire one eighth part Which will make the distribution as follows:
