AKA Louis Charles Allard, he was a prominent businessman and a part-Indian Flathead Reservation rancher, who, with his partner Michel Pablo, are often credited as saviors of the buffalo. It is a very interesting tale of the "Wild West" if one has an interest in those things.Most all of the currently extant buffalo apparently are descendants of their Pablo-Allard Herd.
The text cited includes some descendant genealogy, as part of the stories, and several references to other works that may be of a more genealogical interest.
I would be thinking that the Allard part of this story is likely to be from the Canadian branches of the family, but ...
