Joseph Allard was born in that part of Hampton, New Hampshire, which is now Rye, on 15 August 1715.He married on 23 February 1741, Margaret Abbot.He was a farmer.He moved from Rye to Portsmouth, where he lived some years and, probably in 1758, removed thence to Barrington.From Barrington he became the second settler of New Durham, New Hampshire (probably in 1767).He settled on New Durham Ridge, on the farm now owned, in two farms, by Brackett and Barry.There he lived until his death, which took place in the middle of July, 1778.He widow, Margaret, lived as late as April 1794. Joseph and Margaret had the following children: Reuben baptized 13 March 1743.He married first Sarah Fullerton.Secondly, he married Abigail (Pinkham) Smith.Other children included Mary, Jane, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Ephraim, Olley, Anthony, Benjamin, and Margaret. Captain Reuben Libby married his first wife in Wolfborough.Sarah died 10 February 1801.Reuben and Sarah produced ten children: Sarah, Joseph, Mary, Nancy, Esther, Reuben Abbot; Margaret, Olive, Hannah, and Jeremiah. Of these children: Mary Libby (born 22 Jan 1773) married Shadrach Allard.Mary died after bearing Shadrack three children.Her sister Margaret Libby (born 9 May 1783) married Shadrach’s brother Daniel Allard.The couple produced Joseph Allard. Margaret died in childbirth.
