I have an Amy Allard b. 1856 in Morgan Co,OH.
This Amy Allard came to Noble Twp,Richland Co, IL with her parents and siblings in Sept
1865. Her father was Rueben Allard b.5 March
1830 in Morgan Co, OH. Rueben served in the Civil War Co.B,160th OH Infantry. He married
Mahala Mauk b.1827 in Muskingum Co,OH on 28 Sept 1853 in OH. They had 3 children born in OH before coming to IL...Sylvanus b.1854,
Amy and Hattie b.1864. In Noble Twp,Richland Co,IL they had Annie b.1867. This family was
written up in the Hist. and Biographies of Richland Co,IL 188something...They can be found on the 1870,1880 and possibly 1900 census of Richland Co,IL. I am interested in
them because I believe that Rueben Allard is
related to my Sophronia Allard Balch Sutterfield. Sophronia b.1810 in VT,lived with her parents in Clinton Co,NY where she
married Horatio James Balch in May 1827 they
later moved to Gibson/Knox Co,IN, across the
Wabash River from southern IL...James died
and Sophronia remarried to Wm Sutterfield.
Then Sophronia's daughter Elizabeth Selina
'Betsy' Balch m. Wm Sutterfield's son Isaac
in 1849. By 1851 they came to live in Richland Co, Decker Twp. Sophronia's father Lemuel Allard 1785 in VT or NH was the brother of Samuel Allard b.abt
1790 'in the Green Mountains of Vermont' who
'removed to NY when 6 years old'...and later came with several other brothers to Morgan Co,OH....Samuel's wife was Laurana Maxon and
they are Rueben Allard of Noble Twp, Richland's parents and Amy Allard's grandparents. I think that Rueben came to Richland Co because his first cousin lived there. Elizabeth and her husband Isaac were prominent people in Richland, early settlers and Isaac was the 'justice of the peace' in
Richland for over 40 yrs. I descend from them
through their daughter Mary Ann Sutterfield,
and have several other related families in Richland. I hope some of this helps you.
