This is Teresa again and I am at Barb's house. She found several papers about William F. Allen. It said they sold Montgomery Township property on June 22, 1870 to Andrew Montgomery for $1,ooo.oo.
The following is information off of one of the papers that I will type as it appears."There is a Will Allen mentioned in an article in the Robinson, Illinois Library about Gold Hunters going to California. Jan. 17, 1908, paper.Spring of 1850 that they left. Not all one body.William McCoy acted as Cpt. Congregated in Hudsonville before left. All reached California.Found large amts of gold.1853-1858.Some went by water.Went to Calif. again."
This is another note from her paperwork."1880 Census Crawford County, IL: No William Allen listed. He was there in 1850 and 1860 and 1870."
Also in the papers is information from a letter by Donna Johnston to Jan Allen, Sept. 26, 1991.It states that William F. Allen's parents were Bartlett Allen and Lucina "Sinah" Dodd.Bartlett and Lucina were married in Shelby, KY on July 14, 1820.So they are thinking that William F. Allen is possibly Bartlett's son from a previous marriage before Lucina. They are unsure of who that might have been though.
If there is anything else you might be wondering about, let Barb know.Just give her something specific and she will look for it.The son of William F. Allen that is part of Barb's family tree is Obijah (Abijah) Allen.Barb has several dates and locations for some of the children, if you don't already have them. This isn't much, but maybe it will help out in some way.
