While not an Allen decendant, I recently spent a day in the Pittsfield, Ma. library researching the Hammond family.Because my grandfather was a teamster at the turn of the century, and I have a photograph of his crew hauling stone for the Arch at the Allen farm, I researched the history of the Allen farm and found some wonderful newspaper articles and pictures. William Russell Allen, was a third generation decendant of Rev. Thomas Allen, Pittsfield's "Fighting Parson" of the Revolutionary War and developed 1247 acres of land into a world known horse breeding farm. I copied this information because of the significance of the stone arch to my Hammond family, and would be happy to send copies to anyone researching this side of the Allen family.
