With respect, I'm not sure if readers/posters are familiar with how heraldry works....its rules I mean.
I have several Allen shields and crests in my files, including the one I'm entitled to, matriculated down our paternal line. The problem is that only one unique man in each Allen line is entitled to a specific coat of arms, while all cousins, brothers, even children, cannot bear those unique arms. This Allen forum should be an example of how many Allens there are in the world.
So, while there may be from 6 to 10 known heraldic devices used by Allens, only 6 to 10 living Allens may use them, or claim them as their own.
It IS very interesting though, to see them and know their history, and whether there might be some relation to Your own blood.
I could try to help show the shields I have knowledge of, but I only know who are entitled to 2 of them.
