I am looking for info on the James Allen family that moved from Franklin Co., Va. to Lawrence Co., Oh. around 1816.According to the 1830 census for Lawrence Co., James was born between 1770-1780 as well as his wife.They had at least the following sons: James (the line that I am researching-info below), Wesley, Reynolds, and William.
By the 1840 census, James has died and his wife is living with the son, William.
I am researching James Allen's son who was listed in the 1830 census as James, Jr.According to a biography in the Lawrence Co. Hardesty Book of 1882, this James Allen was born October 7, 1807 in Franklin Co., Va. and moved to Lawrence Co., OH in 1816.
His first marriage was to Anna Collier in Lawrence Co. on April 19, 1827. (Anna was born on Jan. 24, 1807.) James and Anna had the following children: Lydia (born and died 1830), Hiram (b. 1831), Sarah (1832), Caleb (1835), Martha (1837), Joshua (1839), James (1843), Ann C. (1845), and Wm. F. (1847).His sons Hiram, Caleb, Joshua, and James served in the civil war.(His second marriage was to Nancy Adams in 1866, to which he had no children with.)
James Allen died on Dec. 23, 1887 at the age of 81y, 2m, 15d, was listed as a widower and born in Franklin Co., Va. James and Anna (Collier) Allen are buried in the Allen Cemetery in Lawrence Co., OH.James Allen and family can be found in the census there from 1830-1880.
