I have some Allens that lived in the Marquette area.Here is what I have.
Name: Ephraim Williams ALLEN Sex: M Birth: 1853 in Salem, MA Note: 1871 Went to work for John Brown's shoe dealership 1872-1875 went to Providence, RI as a molder in the Barston Stove Works 1876-1878 went to work as a molder in Detroit, Michigan with his cousin Willis Knowlton. 1878 went to work for the Detroit Free Press as a clerk and later as a member of the advertising staff. 1880 went to Kansas City, MO as the request of his brother William and went to work for Meyer Brother and Co. as a bookkeeper. He held various jobs in 1880 in addition to the above 1881 returned to Detroit, Michigan where he was made cashier and auditor/accountant of the Detroit Mackinac and Marquette Railroad. 1882 was made purchasing agent, 1885 general passenger and ticket agent, 1887 secretary and assistant treasurer.
