Orrin Sweet Allen was born 03/11/1824 by his Civil War Record when he served in the 112th NY Vol. Inf. His daughter Della listed it as 03/11/1824 and it was transposed by the stone cutter to 1842. He was born in Rensslear County New York to Willam Allen a farm hand. William is listed as a farm hand on the 1870 Lenawanee County, Michigan Census page 26, Aug. 5 1870 still working different farms. William's son Edmond/Edmund D. Allen is also listed as a book keeper on the Aug. 20, 1870 census, same county. Orrins wife was the former Farances Ellen Wade of Harmony, New York they were mar. Nov. 1856. Orrin and Frances left behind over a thousand letters, document etc. Copies and transcriptions of their Civil War letters (1861-1865) are currently availble.
