A John Howard was county Registrar in Macon Co. N.C. in the 1830's.A John Howard was involved in some land transactions with David and William Allen in Macon at that time(witnessing each other's deeds).Don't know if it was in a strictly business relationship or not.
A John Howard was shown close to Aaron Pinson and the Nortons in the 1830 Macon census. Aaron Pinson was co-administrator of Gideon Norton's estate in Macon (with Gideon's 2nd wife Talitha). In 1833, Aaron Pinson and Marlon Norton (gideon Norton's son) witnessed the sale of land from a Samuel Brodsky to a John Howard. In 1834, Martin Moss, legatee, of Pickens Co. (he married an older daughter of Gideon Norton) gave john Howard power of Attorney to settle Norton's estate and sold his share of the estate to Howard. In Feb 1835 Pinson mortgaged Sec. 27, dist. 12 for $151 to Bell, Brittain & Samuel with a condition that Pinson pay to John Howard, guardian of the heirs of Gideon Norton, dec'd, 2 notes for $151.In March 1836, Aaron Pinson sold land to John Howard that he had acquired in the original 1820 Macon land sale.A Mary M. Howard witnessed this transaction.
Pinson moved to Gilmer Co. about this time showing as a road commissioner there on 8/15/1837.In 1840, Pinson is shown next to Nancy, Riley and Robert Allen.Of course, Robert was married to A. Pinson's niece, but it appears Robert's brother (?), Riley Allen, married a Norton. When Aaron pinson died in Gilmer Co. Ga. in 1843, the biggest creditor to his estate was a John Howard.
Whether this John Howard is yours or not, I don't know.
