I too am a descendant of William Allen and Sarah Howard, daughter of Henry Howard and Rebecca (believed to be) Hawkins, sister to Pinktheman (?sp) Hawkins who married Mary Howard, sister of Henry Howard.
A search of the marriage records of Maryland's or Virginia's Eastern Shore might be helpful to verify the marriage.
The records of Person & Granville Counties NC areliteral gold mines for the Allen/Howard line.
Henry Howard disappeared from the records of NC and Virginia just prior to the Rev. War and showed up in Person County with his wife Priscilla after the War.(I have wondered, but never had the opportunity to check it out, if he were in South Carolina with his brother-in-law, Pinktheman, who was a renowned Indian fighter of the time.)
I have ton of paper on the two lines that I gathered about ten years ago and will dig out to try to organise very soon.
My line is:
William Hunt Allen d. 1785 Granville Co, NC M. Frances Grant, daughter of Thomas Grant
William H. Allen d. 1816 Person Co, NC M. Sarah Howard d. 1835 Person Co, NC
William H. Allen d. 1816 Person Co, NC M. Nancy?
(Note Father William's and Son William's wills were probated in the same court term.)
John Allen died c. 1839 Henry Co, Tenn.
Reuben Allen d. 1851 Person County NC M. Barbary Hawkins
Henry Allen d. 1864 Civil War M. Nancy Jean Blalock
Herrod Allen d. 1935 Person Co, NC
Minnie Iva Allen b. 1890 d. 1925 (my Grandmother)
I have lists of the names of all these peoples' children and marriages, as well as information on Thomas Grant's line that I will be happy to share with any and all who are interested.
