Thank you for the dat. I think I am now convinced.
I must have a hundred pages full of Allen data taken from the internet. I was convinced the Allens in Wilkes George must be from the early Allens in New Kent and Henrico Counties, Va as that is where the Surry Spurlocks came from .
Something is still odd , however, David and Benjamin Allen came to the rescue of Spurlock orphans in Wilkes County, Ga. However the John Spurlock who I am convinced married Sarah Allen would have married ca 1750 long before the N.J. Allens showed up in Surry (???). The Spurlock orphans were children of an Allen Spurlock killed by Indians ca 1788 in Georgia. I can only theorize now that he ALSO married an Allen and was the reason for the concern for his orphan childrenby the Allens.
Anyhow, if David of Surry left a Rev. War pension appllication stating he was born in N.J., that must be proof and it is certain that these Surry Allens were the same as those in Wilkes County, Ga ca 1785-1800.
Thanks for your help.
I doubt these were closely connected to Ethan Allen unless rhis was the David who married a Baker as did Ethan's father Joseph. Does anyone reading this know ?? -- Ken
