This is a copy of a repy I sent Dee in Texas about the Allen's in the 1820 Putnam County GA census.I thought I'd go ahead and post it for anybody else who might be curious. Leave room for errors ok???
Bear with me because some of the stuff was very hard to read.Putnam County (or any other county in the state of Georgia) was not on microfilm (at this library anyway) until 1820.The following is a list of the names of the Allen's that I found:
In Captain Hugh Ecton's District was James Allen with 1 male child under 16, one under 18, one under 25 and 1 under 45, and 1 female under 35, with 19 slaves.
In Captain William Evan's District was Elizabeth Allen, 1 male under 10, 1 male under 25 and 1 female under 25 - no slaves.
In Captain John Butts District was William Allen with 1 male under 10, 1 under 45, 1 female under 25 and 1 under 65 (?) and 2 slaves
In Captain Eli Buckner's district was the most Allens, There was Bessy (?) Allen with 2 males under 10, 1 male under 35, 2 females under 10, 1 under 18, 1 under 25 and 6 under 65 (???) and 11 slaves
14 houses down was (Miss???) Allen with 1 male under 45, 2 females under 10, 1 under 16, 1 under 18 1 under 35 and 1 under 65 no slaves
7 houses down was William Allen with 2 males under 10, 1 under 35, 1 female under 16, and 1 female under 35
Next door was Jordin Allen with 1 male under 35 and 1 female under 65 no slaves.
43 more doors down was Clacy (?) Allen, 1 male under 16, 1 under 25, 1 under 1 under 65, 1 female under 18 and 6 under 35 with 7 slaves.
This info is probably not the most accurate in the world.I was very very hungry before I left and wasn't focusing very well. Some of the writing was so illegible I asked another geneologist to look at it with me, so take it for what it's worth, just a good shot!
I wish these census's would list the children's names.Looks like that they would have known that we'd be looking for them...... cheryl
