I am researching an Allen line in Granville Co., NC and in Anson Co., NC.I've traced that line back to a Robert Allen in Virginia.Along the way I've come across Reynold Allen and his wife, Mary.I believe them to be related. We do not know who Reynold and Mary Allen were but find them in Granville Co. in 1752 and again in Johnston Co. from 1753 until his part of the county became the newly formed Wake Co. in 1770.This family apparently moved on into South Carolina.
In 1761 Young Allen purchased land in Johnston Co., NC (later Wake Co.) and near the Granville Co. line from Reynolds Allen. This would have placed his land near the Neuse River and the current Falls Lake area of Wake Co.and about 10 miles northwest of the town of Wake Forest, NC.He lived here until his death.(Young Allen is the son of Robert Allen of Virginia)
When David was 14 years old his mother died. His father had passed away when he was only one years old.He and his sibblings were placed under guardianship. In 1790 they were allowed to decide for ArnoldBruce as their legal guardian.Young Allen and Reynolds Allen were listed as their security. It is probable that Reynolds was an uncle and that Young was a cousin.(David Allen is the son of the above mentioned Young Allen and his wife, Martha Coleman) who died in Wake Co., NC.David moved on to Anson Co., NC around 1800.
Given the guardianship issue I believe that there is a relationship here.I don't know what it is.
