Allen, I think I found the same book you did--"Surry Co. NC Deeds Books D, E, & F 1779-1797 by Mrs. W. O. Absher. It shows 18 April 1786 John Allen Senr. giving 5 pounds, 200 acres to John Allen Junr., 100 pounds, 200 acres to William Allen and 5 pounds 200 acres to Isaac Allen.I suppose this land is in Surry Co.
In the Surry Co. Abstracts Deed Books A, B & C (1770-1788) also by Mrs. Absher, I found document C:299 on 3 Nov 1784 signed by John Allen and Mary Allen which seems to be a deed of conveyance from John Allen who paid money to Treasury. This doesn't necessarily mean Mary is John's wife & if she is, which John Allen is this?Possibly the best thing I found yesterday was in the Surry County, NC Will Abstracts 1771-1827.It was the will of Thomas (X) Pettit, Sr., 31 May 1788.Wife, Rachel.Sons Thomas, Jr. & Benjamin, Jr. to have ea. 100 A on Michel's R. Crippled son George. No exrs. There's more, but it also says: (Note: Administration granted to Rachel, widow & relict 16 May 1789 with Isaac Allen & Wm. Cook, Esqrs. securities. There are loose estates papers at the NC Archives)
In the Colony of NC 1765-1775 Abstracts Vol. II it shows Isaac Allen on 4 February 1773 rec. 70 acres from Crown. It gives the location, too. This may be old stuff to you, but it might be of interest for those who are looking for Frances Pettit's parents. I wish someone could find John Allen, Sr.'s will.
