Note:This is a long query -- Please read it through! Andrew ALLEN d.c.1812 York Co. SC with LWT Exec. by wife Jennie.Male issue:James, John, Thomas, Andrew, William, Wilson, and Samuel.Wife was dau. of John WILSON (I think).
His LWT had codicil c. 1811, leaving $50 to each of Andrew's niece (Bettey) and nephew (Andrew) when they come "of Age", IF they do not bring suit against any other heir.
This estate was partially settled 02 Feb 1818 with a note to Andrew ALLEN of N. Caro. for $50 and a note to Betsey ALLEN for $50.
An Andrew ALLEN was in 1820 Census for Lincoln Co. NC as: (Pg.290) Andrew ALLEN0 0 0 1 0 0 - 2 0 1 1 0 (Census/Tax Area was West of S. Fork of Catawba River)
This codicil was done at same time that the estate of a Capt. James ALLEN was being Admin. by James' widow Cynthia.Admin. date:12 Oct 1811.Buyers at the Estate sale were: "Senthy" ALLEN, Thomas ALLEN, Andrew ALLEN Sr., Andrew ALLEN, John ALLEN, William REAVES.
Cynthia ALLEN m. (?) REEVES bef. Dec. 1821, and she did Final Settlement of the James ALLEN estate on 11 Jan 1830, with her 1/3 of $1063.08 and the remainder split between the two children.Elizabeth ALLEN rec'd. $200 cash and a note for $153.03 on 11 Jan 1830.A James ALLEN rec'd. a note for $353.03 on 07 Jan 1833.
It is possible Andrew (d.1812) and James (d.1811) were brothers, and Elizabeth and James (middle name "Andrew"(?)) who were heirs of James ALLEN were also the nephew and niece who were heirs of Andrew ALLEN.
I descend (most likely) from ONE of these Andrew ALLENs. My Andrew ALLEN seems to have moved to Henderson Co. TN by the 1830 Census, (unknown for 1840), in Gibson Co. TN by 1846 and in 1850 Census there. There was also an Andrew ALLEN in Tipton Co. TN during the 1850 Census, possibly also one of the SC ALLENs.
I would like to hear from any ALLEN descendent who might be related to this SC (or NC) family, or from ANYONE who might give me some (polite) suggestions as "what to do next".
