This is all kind of new to me, but my family records show that our branch of the Allen family dates back more than 200 years to Robert Allen, who lived near the city of Larne, in Antrim County, Ireland. This Robert Allen married Janet Hair and they are reported to have had 25 children, 19 of whom lived to maturity. Two of their sons, David and William emigrated to America about the year 1729. They landed at Phladelphia and William found a home among the Quakers of New Jersey. This William Allen born in Ireland in 1711 was married three times. His first wife died in New Jersey, leaving one child, a daughter named Jane. Most of the information of which I have much more, is re: the descendants that settled in Virginia and then on to Kentucky. They were Presbyterian in faith. William Allen was a soldier in the war of 1812. He was among the Kentucky riflemen in the Battle of the Thames when Tecumseh, the Indian chief was killed. He married Juliet Skillman by whom he had 5 children. I have the continuing ancestry, but it is for descendants who emigrated to America.
