My Allen connection is thru son Theophilus, his son Henry Martin, his son Theophilus, his son Covington, is son Elvet Young and than my father Elvet Kenneth. I have quite a bit of family info if you want more but this is John Rhodams family.
*(John)Rhodam “Rhody” ALLEN(Thomas2, Robert1 ALLIN/ALLEN/ALLAN) was born in 1742 in Charles or Dorchester Co., the Colony of Maryland, and died 24 August 1820 in Jefferson Co., IL. Buried at Old Union Church, Jefferson Co., IL. He married (1) Mary Emily RANSOM 1765/1769 in Md or Stafford Co., VA. She was born 1744 in Stafford Co., VA or Maryland (Census lists both), and died in 1807 in Sumner Co., TN. He married (2) Lucinda OVERBY in 1810 in Sumner Co., TN. She was born about 1770 in Sumner Co., TN.
Notes on Lucinda Overby: After Rhody's death, she married (2) James Douglass, a school teacher from Sumner Co., TN, in Old Shiloh, Jefferson Co., IL; he was 25 years her senior. He died within four years. She married (3) George Roper in 1826. There were no issue. George died a few years later. Lucinda died in 1849 and her son, John Wesley Allen, was the administrator of her estate.
Notes on John Rhody Allen: He was a Methodist minister circuit rider, as were many of his sons. He was a master cabinetmaker, which he passed on to his sons. Organized a wagon train of 41 families, along with William Maxey, husband of daughter Mary Emily Allen, and Rev. (John) Rhodam Allen II and went to Shiloh Twp., Jefferson Co., IL in 1819 with Lucinda and their three minor children. Bought 160 acres of land- 25 Mar 1820 in Shiloh Twp., Jefferson Co., IL. (Sarah Jane Owens Allen, wife of John Wesley Allen, described Rhody as "a powerful man who thought nothing of shouldering good-sized logs and stacking them in a pile or loading them on a wagon". He died of a heart attack shouldering logs in the timber.) He was an abolitionist and a constable for Jefferson Co., IL
NC records suggest that Rhody preformed some service to the colonies during the Revolutionary War but what exactly is unknown
