I'm also researching Allens from Talladega Co. Alabama. The one farthest back is Hiram Allen b. 1796 SC was in Jackson Co. Ga from at least 1830 through about 1853, when a son William was born. After that the family was in Talladega Co. Al.Hiram is found last on the 1880 census living in the household of his daughter and son in law, Cynthia and Robert Smith Parker.
These are the children that I have for Hiram so far. from his first marriage, to Carna ? Eilands ? Isom B. Allen abt 1820 SC. married first Mary Waford/Wofford. Married second to Doleska Cooley his step sister. Have Isom's with 17 children 5 from the first wife, 12 from the second wife.
Elizabeth Allen, b. 1838 Jackson Co. GA. no more info. Possibly other children from this first marriage but don't have children's names.
Hiram's second marriage to Cynthia Waford/Wofford/Warford ? She was married to Wesley Cooley first and two children known from this marriage. Thomas Cooley and Doleska Cooley Hiram and Cynthia's children that are known are: Columbus H. born 1843 Jackson Co. Ga Cynthia E. born 1845 Jackson Co. Ga Vesta (Nesta) born 1846 Jackson Co. GA David born 1848 Jackson Co. GA Amanda born 1848 Jackson Co. GA Believe to be twin to David Joshua born 1849 Jackson Co. GA Titus G. born 1850 Jackson Co. GA William born abt 1853 Jackson Co. GA
Hiram can be found on the 1830-1850 Jackson Co. GA census.Don't know about the 1860. But found him today on the 1870 Talladega County Alabama Census, living in Munford.Only Columbus and William are still in the home. All the other children are out of the home.Hiram is a blacksmith, and was born in South Carolina.
Cynthia Allen born 1845, married Robert Smith Parker in 1870 in Talladega. They had 7 children, I have name of 6. On the 1880 Talladega County Alabama Federal census Hiram and Cynthia Allen are living in their household.
Columbus H. Allen married unknown aft Sep 1870.They had two daughters, Cynthia who married Columbus Perkins Willmon and Mary A. who never married and in 1920 was living in her sister and brother in law's home.
Believe Columbus's first wife to have died, as he remarried in 1875 in Calhoun Co. Alabama to Rachel Evelyn Lloyd. They also had 2 daughters, Lula E. Allen who married Calep Milton Ford and they had 8 children.and Nancy Elizabeth Columbus "Lummie" Allen who married Rufen/Ruffin H. Martin a Methodist minister. They had 11 children.
I don't know who raised the children of Columbus's first marriage as they are not in his household on the 1880 Calhoun Co. Alabama census. They may have been in the household of his first wife's parents, or if she hadn't died and they were divorced in her home.
On the 1820 Jackson Co. GA census, I found a Beverly Allen who I believe may be connected with Hiram Allen.Living two homes away is a William PArker, who may be connected to Robert Smith Parker.
I don't know if there is a connection or not, but thought that I would reply.I do have a Cleghorn question for you.Do you have a Laura/Lourie Cleghorn b. 5 Oct 1899, died 11 May 1980 Montgomery Co. Al.She married Neal Hubbard Chandler.
