William T. Allen (listed age 62), wife Frances (listed age 65), and grandaughter Nora A. (listed age 14) are recorded in the 1900 Census in Union Hall District (E.D. 37) of Franklin County, VA. Originally listed as dwelling 201 but crossed through and appears to be 209.A Wm. Allen family, probably his son, is listed as the next dwelling.I am interested in learning more about this family as W. T. Allen is described in several deeds as having property adjoining land owned by John Wesley Ferguson and eventually deeded to three of his children. In the 1900 Census, Wm. T. Allen is listed a few houses away from William L. Doss, a nephew of J. W. Ferguson. These people were living in the Bull Run/Penhook area of NE Franklin Co. near Bedford and Pittsylvania Counties.I believe the Frances Ferguson who married Wm. T. Allen was related but not closely - will have to check.
According to a transcribed version of the 1880 Census for Franklin County which I have copied, a William T. Allin is listed in the Union Hall District, page 218B, only one residence away from John W. Ferguson and one of his sons, Abner A. Ferguson.Wm. Allin is listed age 49 and his wife is listed as Jemima H. C. Allen, age 49.They have two daughters and a son, William Allin at home, among others.I do not know if Allin was spelled on census form with an i or if transcriber could not read enumerator's writing.Appreciate info on this family and subsequent ownership of this land.
