I just received copies of two marriage bonds from Fauquier County Clerk of the Circuit Court.
Henry Allen with John OBannon are held and firmly bound to our sovereign Lord King George the third for 50 pounds current money of Virginia...27 Jun 1772...condition of the obligation is a marriage shortly intended to be solemnized between Henry Allen and Betty Nelson for which a license is issued. Both parties of the bond signed and H Brooke also signed as Clerk of the Court.Fauquier Marriages Vol 1, p 47, at the courthouse.
Henry Allen with Daniel Field are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency Benjamin Harrison Esquire, Governor of Virginia14 Dec 1781?looks more like the start of 5 or 8 the condition of the obligation is a marriage shortly intended to be solemnized between Henry Allen and Catheirne McKonkey---signed by both men on the bond and H Brooke, Clerk of the Court.
Is it safe to assume both of these marriages took place in Fauquier County?
Would Henry have married twice?Or were there two Henrys?
