Mary: Looks like we will both benefit from this. All I have on William is the name and that he was born 1846 in Jefferson Twp, Fayette Co., Ohio.
Now, first of all let me make sure the info I was given agrees with yours. My info shows that Aaron, William and Elijah's father is the son of Elijah b. 1785.The line goes from Elijah back to Ananias b. 1748/49, back to George b. 1725, back to William b. 1695, back to Ananias b. 1673, back to John.Does anything we have agree?I was told by an elderly lady at Washington Courthouse that Aaron was not the son of Elijah. She said Aaron's father was Adam.Get me straight before we go any further.
I got started on chasing old dead people a little late and I've had a heck of a time getting going.I'm 57 years old and the grandparents are all dead.My Mom had gotten a Log-of-Life baby book for me and my grandmother gave her some of the family tree info for it.She had Elijah's mother (my GG-grandmother) as Emma Cox.You would think she would have known.Well, I couldn't find anything on Aaron and Emma Cox.One day I went to our Courthouse to check some records and got into old marriage records. When Elijah was still in the 8th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry stationed here in central WV he married the first time.In Jan 1865 he married Columbia Grogan and in the marriage records it indicates Elijah's parents were Aaron Allen and Permelia Jane Garner Allen from Fayette Co., Ohio.Once I got that info things started happening.
Last fall I visited Washington Courthouse to find out what I could about the family.Wish I could have stayed a while.Only had a day but I visited the Cemetery and found Aaron and Millie's stone toppled.Tried to get it back up but just couldn't do it by myself.
All I have on Elijah's siblings is name, year of birth, and that they were all born in Fayette Co., Ohio.
After you tell me if what I have is right or wrong we will proceed from there. Doug
