I am seeking further info on Pvt. Charles H. ALLEN, born 2 Sept 1846 NY (son of Jeremiah B. ALLEN and Lydia BELMORE, both born in NY) and died 11 Feb 1900 Caro, Tuscola Co., MI.He served in the Civil war in the 1st MI and 7th MI I believe. He married 4 times most likely and I would like to speak to any onewho might know anything more about this individual and/or his wives (unknown, Virginia VANDERGRIFT, Agnes Hunkins Hill,or Mary HINES)

Source states that she has their marriage record and it states he's in the Michigan 7th Calvary.His service records state he transfered to the Mich 1st after the war.In Census records he states he's born in NY and I have him on the 1880 in D.C. with his parents (the names that match on his death cert. from Caro MI).

Charles H. Allen, Tuscola, 18 is listed in the Regimental Roster for the 7th Regiment Michigan Volunteer Cavalry, Company M.He's also listed in the War Graves of the Michigan Regiments as being in the 7th Cav. Co. M, buried at Caro.
His wife Virginia applied for his pension and, of course, the date and place of death is mentioned.The only other woman (wife) that applied was Mary Hines.Why didn't Agnes apply for it?Was she alive in 1900?Did anyone ever mention him having lost his legs????All that information is in his Civil War Pension file.
