I have some totally new information on the family of William and Fanny Allen, who at one time lived in Fauquier County, Virginia. See below:

In searching the records of Thumb Run Baptist Church, I found reference to two Allens, a William Allen and his wife Frances, or Fanny. They joined the church in 1788 and the last mention of them is in 1793. I have enclosed a list of all references to Allen in the church minutes.

Saturday, March 16th, 1788 William Allen and Fanney his wife received with this Church from Carters Run on recommendation of Brother John Monroe and by Consent of the Church. William Allen chosen Deacon on Trial
May 15th, 1790 Brother Allen presented a book which he had got for the use of the Church at 2.6 price the Church satisfied with the same.
June 9th, 1790 Chose William Allen . . . to attend the Association Thursday before the third Sunday in August at Goose Branch Meetinghouse
July 30th, 1791 Chose William allen . . . to attend the Association at Opecking Barkley County beginning Friday before the third Sunday in August.
Saturday, March 17th, 1792 William Allan settles with the Church and left a balance of 2:8 pounds of the Church money in the hand of Joseph Barby William Allen and Fanny his Wife applied for a letter of Dismission and granted that they are dismissed
Wednesday, May 30th, 1792 Secondly a matter of Controversy between Wm. Allen and wife and accusation against Catey Shaw for approaching the said Allen and wife out of The Church. Wm. Allen and wife having confessed their faults irregularity in the settlement of said matter and a Contradiction taken place between Catey Shaw and Peggy Wine. They are both suspended until a better understanding takes place. 3rd it is made appear by William Allen and Elizabeth Elliott that she the said Catey told Peggy Wine a matter respecting Elizabeth Elliott which she did deny in consequence there was a break of order and discipline and departed from us with she suspended from communion with us until the faith is confessed and repeated oft.
Saturday, June 16th, 1792 Joseph Barby and William Allen appointed messengers to the depending (?) Association and prepare the letter.
Saturday, October 20th, 1792 Paid Wm. Allen two shillings for his Expenses at the Association . . . William Allen is pade
April 20th, 1793 Secondly a proposition by Wm. Allen regarding the legality of the ministery Practiced of Physic and whether it would not be necessary to Furnish a competency in order to enable to devote his time and talent to the Church referred til fourth Consultation Saturday May the 18th, 1793 . . . in answer to Wm. Allen proposition whether it is lawful for the minister to practice physic answered in the affirmative
June 23rd, 1793 . . . proceed to choose Brother Allen and Bro. Barby as messengers to our next Association at Waterlick meeting house. The matter with regard to Catey Shaw and Peggy Wine is amicable settled.
Friday, August 23rd, 1793 2nd Brother Allen brought an accusation against Brother John Rogers for ________ and __________ in his witness. Between Harry Rogers and said Allen and in requiring said Allen to pay more rent than agreed for the Church.
