I ran across an old Geneology.com posting that mentions Benjamin Allen & Jane Russell -- supposed parents to Fannie Allen (b.abt. 1770, NC/KY).It also mentions her eventual husband, Jacob Bozeman (b.abt. 1768, NC/KY).Unfortunately, the poster's e-mail address is defunct -- so I am presenting this anew.
Fannie Allen is my ggggrandmother.I ran across her in my search for my Graham ancestors (whom seemed to populate a lot of the area around White County & Gallatin County, Illinois and spent a good deal of time in the New Harmony, Indiana area).Although my surname is "Allen", my Allen name is actually carried from Samuel Allen (of Windsor, CT lore) rather than from Richard Alleyn (of Kent, England) from which Fannie Allen appears to descend from. In any case, my ancestral connection to the Richard Alleyn line looks something like this ...
- My father is Roland Pearsall Allen. - His father was Charles Clinch Allen II (m. Gertrude Lillian Graham). - Gertrude's father was John M. Graham (m. Gertrude Lillian Gomperts) (not to be confused with other John McClure Grahams that lived in southern Indiana/Illinois during the 1800s). - John M. Graham's father was Col. John M. Graham (m. Mary Wiley). - Col. John M. Graham's father was Robert Graham (m. Drupina Bozeman, whom I have reasonably deduced is the daughter of Jacob Bozeman and Fannie Allen) (Robert Graham, born in Ireland, is the immigrant patriarch to my Scots-Irish Graham ancestors).
I have found that the Fannie Allen ancestral line is fraught with uncertainties.I cannot really find any compelling evidence that Frances ("Fannie") Allen's parents were indeed Benjamin Allen and Jane Russell. There is actually much information online about this Benjamin Allen lineage -- but unfortunately, most of it has conflicting elements and is entirely absent of any female descendant named Frances.
If someone might share any nature of information about the parentage of Fannie Allen (born NC/KY, but lived in New Harmony, IN and then White County, IL), I would be most grateful.
