This message corrects message 1488 dated August 18 1998.In particular, it reflects the likely ancestry of Charles4 Allen as recorded by my great grandfather, James Walter8 Allen.It also adds some detail on the Allen family movement from VA to Hardeman County TN:

Charles3 was born in Hanover, VA,and died in Lunenberg VA. Charles4 moved to Warren County, NC before 1791, where he married Nancy Ann Vincent in 1752, and died 28 Dec 1807. John6 died in Hardeman County, TN.
James Walter8 and Flora (Hamel) Allen had 8 children: 1. Adelaide born 1882; m. Bailey 2. Orion, born 1884; m. Burbank 3. Martha Louise born 1886; m William Archer Dyer. They were my grandparents. 4. Joseph Walter, born 1889 5. Wetherford, born 1892 6. Morton Pickard born 1894 7. Forrest Francis, born 1896 8. Mary Grady, born 1904
Orion moved to California; Joseph, Morton and Forrest are believed to have moved to Scarsdale NY.
James Walter Allen was the Historian for the Sons of the American Revolution for a number of years at the beginning of this century. I have a copy of his application for membership in the SAR and it shows extensive data for all of his lineage.
