My mother recently passed away and amongst her possessions, were my Grandparents belongings. One of these items was an Autograph Album. This little book is quite a treasure, as it has several beautiful hand-drawn pictures in it-everything from pansies to an English peace officer. There are many names signed in the book.On the first page it says this:
To Dear Alice [Allen] Wishing you a Happy Xmas With love from Clare [Allen] Dec 25 1914
I've been researching my family tree for many years and have not come across the surname "Allen".I'm very curious as to which branch of the family this Album came from and how the Allen's are associated with us.
The book appears to have been from England (beneath one of the signatures it says "London").Also, the inside cover says "LONDON:John Walker & Co., Ltd., Farringdon House, Warwick Lane, E.C."
Hoping this may trigger a response, I'll list the other names in the book. Some of the signatures are quite hard to read, so those that I'm not 100% certain of the spelling I'll end with [?]
C. Allen Beatrice A. Lumb D. Bull H. Thompson A. Barrett Alice E. Barber C. Durman E.E. Thompson R.E. Bailey A.M. Pentney Irene Stevens Emily Barrett S.G. Rowe T.[?] M. Hartnoll [?] Eva Newell L.E. Luill [?] Hilda Barnes C.E. Shergold C.E.T. [?] Price Y.A. Aveywill L.H. Reid Pte. W. Chautler [?] 1st Batt Lanc Fusls Ethel Dickens
I'm confident that any clues as to who these people are will be helpful.
