Looking for descendants of William Henry Allen, b. 22 May 1848 Cornwall, son of Josiah Allen and Grace Kissell; m. Grace Chellew 3 Jan. 1867, Wesley Methodist Church, Leswayde parish, Penzance, Cornwall.The family came to US on the ship City of Chicago, arriving New York City 23 Aug. 1888, and continuing on to Hancock MI by train.They came with the help from the Chellews who had come over earlier.He was a copper miner in the Upper Penninsula of MI. He wore kid gloves to church to cover his work worn hands.He was a devout Methodist and sometimes preached at funerals.For a while he lived in Kentucky with his son, John, where they both worked in the mines there.His son died at age 18 and William got the insurance money.He wanted to "invest" it, but his wife sat on the chest where the money was and insisted that it be used to repay her family for the money they had advanced to pay for transportation of William and his family to this country. He died of pneumonia 6 Sept. 1925 Carleton, Monroe Co. MI age 86 and is buried at Greenland MI. Children: William Henry Allen, b. 24 March 1869, d. 2 July 1944, m.
