I am a descendant of Charles Wesley Allen, Sr. Here is the information I have:
I am looking for further info on a William Allen, who died in Rome, Maine, May 22, 1824. He married Ester March 22, 1790.
Their children were:
Daniel Allen, b. 11/04/1791 Vienna, ME d. 2/15/1862
Hannah Allen, b. 2/16/1794 Vienna
Mary Allen, b. 12/24/1799 Vienna
Sarrah Allen, b. 12/20/1801 Vienna
William Allen, b. 3/25/1803 Vienna
Edya Allen, b. 10/9/1806 Rome, ME
Stephen Allen, b. 1/2/1810 Rome
Easton Allen, b. 9/23/1812
William's brother's name was John Allen, and I believe he served in the Revolutionary War. William had lot 84 on the northern shore of Flying Pond, in Vienna Maine. I believe he purchased part of what was called Wyman Plantation, (Vienna, Maine), from a man named Josiah. William's brother John may have married a French woman named Lafiella Soul(sp?), or a Polly.
Daniel Allen married Polly Leighton. Their children are:
Daniel Allen Jr., b. abt 1832, Rome, ME
Benjamin, b. 9/2/1821
Daniel Allen Jr. married Nancy E.M. Knox, in Rome, ME 1/19/1858. Note: residence, from son Charles' marriage certificate; Occupation: Farmer in Livermore Falls, ME. They had Charles Wesley Allen, Sr., b. 3/12/1861 Rome, ME, d. 1944, Berea, KY.
--->> Charles Wesley Allen, Sr. married and widowed Annie A. Trask, 8/30/1883. She was the daughter of Orrin Trask, and Christina Holway. Her death certificate says her burial is 'Sidney', but there is a stone erected for her in Winthrop, ME. [Micahel Allen, 5/2000]. She died of tuberculosis. On 5/22/1898, he married his second wife, Ora Hallowell, daughter of Nathan Hallowell, and Etta Trask. They must have travelled to Blaine, ME, to be married, as it is nowhere near Chelsea, ME, where they settled down. Ora was remembered by my father's generation as Grammy, and was certainly kind hearted, as she raised 5 grandchildren with her own 3 children.
Charles Sr. and Ora bore:
Charles Wesley Allen, Jr., b. 4/27/1899 ME; d 11/29/1961, ME.
Harriet Floretta Allen, b. 1/21/1908 South China, ME; d. 11/99, Grayson, KY; m. Arthur Hamon
Edith Viola Allen, b. 6/7/1902, Chelsea, ME; m. (1) Walter Henry Castle, 12/25/1919; m. (2) William E. Horning, 1941
Arthur Nathan Allen, b. 8/3/1900 Chelsea, ME; d. 8/7/1900 China
Charles died during a visit to Maine. He is buried in lot 208, in Glenside Cemetary, in Winthrop, ME. He lies next to his wife, Edna Violet Clark. They were married 11/16/1920, in China, ME. Charles relocated in 1929, to Berea, KY, after the death of his wife. It is said he was not prepared for single parenthood, and grieved the death of his wife.
