Norma, do you know anything about William and Ester? I have found several references to a William and Ester in Kennebec county, but I am having a hard time ascertaining Ester or Esther's maiden name. I have found one marriage record that coincides with a census sheet I have, of March 22nd, 1790. However, this record does not have Ester's last name. Then, a year later, I have another, in Winthrop, with a date of Jan. 6th, 1791, and a name of Esther Laughton. I am not sure how reliable this information is, as I found records on another member of the family that were off by 5 years, and a copy of the correct record in the same database, (familysearch.org). Additionally, I cannot find anything further on William. I hope to check some of the town and state archives, when I have a chance, but Rome is a bit far from where I live. I suspect that William, or William's father, was the immigrant. There are landowner records of William in 1802, owning lot #84 of Wyman Plantation, or Vienna, ME. This, and the marriage date, are the earliest records I have, as of yet. I hope to learn more from the archives.
