I have an Elizabeth Warren as the wife of William Walker and mother of Elizabeth Walker. My notes suggest the possibility that William Walker may have been married twice.I would love to make contact with you and compare notes, gedcom files, etc.The only thing that confuses me sometimes is when a record is not clear as to whether a married name or maiden name is being used.Any help or information would be deeply appreciated.
Sincerely, Bill Allen
Here is a portion of my files on this: In his will, Francis Warren bequethed 400 acres of his land to Sylvanus, the son of William Walker. The original copy of the will is not extant but a deed from William Walker to his son, Sylvanus Walker, was recorded in 1710. The deed stated that the land was given to Silvanus by the will of Francis Warren. This legacy implies a close relationship between Francis Warren and William Walker. It seems quite likely that Sylvanus was the grandson of Mr. Warren, who died when Silvanus was still a minor. When Silvanus "came of age" in 1710, the land was deeded to him. From this, we infer that Silvanus was born in 1689 and that his mother, Elizabeth Walker, was the daughter of Francis Warren. If William Walker of New Kent Co. in 1698 was the same man who came to Virginia in 1658, he must have been born about 1640. From records of their children, it appears that William and Elizabeth were married by 1680, perhaps earlier. it is possible that Elizabeth was not his first wife and that William had some older children by a previous marriage. William Walker died in Henrico Co. before August of 1723. His will proved that his surviving widow was Elizabeth Walker.
