Hi, I finally found the library open today and photocopied what they have....there isn't a lot, but I could send it to you via US Post Office - you can send me an e-mail and give me your mailing address. There is also a little info about Allen who married into the famous Boone family, which I will send, because I don't know just how far down the line you need to go -
"Jehu married Mary jAllen (daughter of Ananias Allen). Jehu and Mary went to Mississippi. Mary died there. Jehu returned to NC and married Myra Maltby ( former Ferguson)"
That was from a book on the Boone family, but the info was placed in the Allen Family Surname file as well....cross reference, I suppose.
The Surname file for Allen: Ananias Allen B. 1756 married Elizabeth Laxton b. 1757. And it lists their childrenand more infor about them.
"Ananias Allen b. 1756 Orange, NC married @ 1775 NC died 23 Sep 1840 Jackson, AL buried Allen Cemetery, Jackson , AL"
It appears that most of the children were born in Wilkes County, NC (same area as Ashe) and a later one born in Burke, NC which is next to Caldwell Co, NC
A note at the bottom of the printed sheet says: Ananias A. Allen, Jr and wife Susan Elrod Allen are both buried in Faifield Cemetery, Caldwell Co, NC.
I discovered a book in our library with info on the Fairfield Cemetery - It is in West Lenoir, old cemetery. Not used now, I think.
Other information shows that Ananias A. Allen married Nancy Ann Matthews - that he died in Dec 1864 in the Civil War. so not sure what Ananias Al Allen that is buried here is.
"notes at bottom of page: Ananias A. Allen b. 6 May 1778, died 8 Aug 1872,married 10 Apr 1806 to Susannah Elrod
Susannah Elrod Ballen b. 10 Feb 1784, died 29 Sep 1846
both buried in Fairfield Cemetery, Caldwell County, NC "
Looks like Ananias A. Allen(b. 1778) is son of the first Ananias Allen (b. 1756) and that Ananias A. Allen is brother of Wilson Laxton Allen b. 26Aug 1802 NC and Wilson Laxton Allen died 12 Oct 1860 AL .
If I send you the papers you can try to figure it out by yourself - probably better than I can!.
I am posting this info in hopes it will help someone else connected to Ananias Allen who was probably of Dutch descent and born New Jersey family and they came to Orange County, NC from what I have found on the internet.
