I am not, at this point saying who is right or wrong.I am asking questions. I think I even said that I thought there were some errors in Mrs. Whites book. However there is a lot of correct information in there, so I am curious to investigate what she reported. You might want to read it for yourself.
The fact that her book deals with only familys that she is descended from makes me think that she spent a bit of time researching. But everyone knows that errors can be made even in Mr. Waddles Annals. As far as DAR records, she is also a memeber of the DAR with her information listed. So there are conflicts there also.I have seen everything that you have sent.I have also seen where there has been a dissagreement on the wife of Malcolm son of Malcolm and Mary Dean. Some say she was a Hughs. So this make me wonder if there was one married to a Hughs and one to a Cunningham? Then there are the ones who can't agree on the Malcolm jr. whether he was actually a son of the Malcolm that settled on the James River from Prince Edward Co. or a nephew.I also am aware of the William who was the father of James and Hugh of Point Pleasant.William was also supposed to have had a brother that came to Augusta Co. with him that no one seems to be able to figure out who he is. It would be much easier for me to just dismiss her book as garbage and just go with what everyone else has in their GEDCOMS, but besides the fact that a lot of what she has in there has been verified makes me want to dig around a bit.And just like you, I have no marriage record of which Allen, Jane Turk married, I just found that very interesting that Mr. Pyle would mention her as being married to his Uncle.Another thing is you even stated that Jane Turk was baptized at Tinkling Springs and Malcolm Allen was an Elder of that Church. The James Allen of Augusta that married Margaret Anderson had a daughter Jane that married Capt. James Trimble. They were the group that left Augusta and traveled down the Shenandoah Valley and crossed over to Crab Orchard (KY now) and a lot of people from that group settled in what became Adair Co. KY.So when I see Mr. Pyle stating that his Aunts and Uncles settled in Adair county It makes me wonder if he is not correct about Malcolm being a brother to Jane Allen Trimble. Or at least some sort of relation.
I hope you can see why we are asking questions. My dad started his research 30 years ago, and Sue has been looking for our Allen line in VA for over 20.Our 4xgrand father John Allen b. abt 1770 was in Tazewell, and signed the petition when it was formed.Yet is seems every record we find for the surrounding areas trying to link him to a line, to find his father, someone else claims it to be "thier line" and they know he can not belong there.Since we know he did not drop out of the sky, we have to start questioning and looking at every piece of information we find.
Not trying to offend anyone. We would just like to be able to ask questions and share what we have also found to try to help untangle these Augusta Co. VA Allen's.
