As you may well guess I've been researching my "Allen" ancestors and have learned that my great, great, great grandfather was Reuban Allen born 1772, also, in North Carolina. He live in Catawba county and had at least 13 to 14 children (I may have their names on a CD my father just sent me, but I haven't looked at it yet) One of his children, my great, great grandfather was Henry Allen. He and two of his brothers fought in the Civil War (Confederates) Both of his brothers died at Gettysburg and he died 3 days later from wounds he sustained there. He was married to Rachael El Vira Edwards. They had three boys, Joseph H.Allen, Waymouth and my great grandfather John Webster Allen. Joseph H. Allen disappeared. We don't know what become of him. I was thinking since Ananias was born close to the same time as Reuban that they may have been related. I doubt that there were that many Allens in North Carolinas in the 1770's. If you share my opinion;please let me know.
