Ok, let me tell you what little bit I know. And since it's been so long since this was posted you may have more.
Eunice Allen married Thomas Little in TAZEWELL Co. VA in 1809.They moved to Giles Co. and she stated on the 1850 census that she was born in NC and I think off the top of my head that her age would have made her birth date abt 1779.
My 4x great grandfather John Allen was one of the petitioners of Russell Co. to form Tazwell. He is on the tax list there beginning in 1802, so he was there when she was married. His birth date is abt 1770-72.He was married first to Eleanor ( we think Steele ) and had a son Robert by her.He married second to Esther Jane Neal in 1826 there in Tazewell County VA.They moved abt. 1834/35 to Scott Co. VA and he died there between Dec. 1840 and Feb 1841.
Now back to the Allen's in Tazwell. The earliest land records we have found so far are for John purchasing 40 acres in 1809 and his brother Thomas 50 acres in 1808.These were Treasury Warrents so it was bought from the state. The early tax records for Tazewell show
John Allen 1802 through 1820, which is when I am able to find him on census records.
Thomas Allen (John's brother) 1805 through 1817, then he moved to Giles and is on the 1820 census for there.
David Allen ( I think a younger brother??) paid personal taxes in 1810 and then shows up again in 1816 through 1820. He married in 1814 to Margaret Dailey and they moved to Greene Co. Indiana btw. 1830 and 1840.He died btw. 1840 and 1850 as his wife and kids are on the 1850 census and she is listed as a widow.
Samuel Allen paid taxes only one year btw the beginning of the county and 1820, and that was in 1814.Which just happens to be the same year David married.
Now here is where the speculation starts. Researchers say that the Samuel who married Sarah Prater in Henry Co. VA is also the same Samuel that signed the Petition when my John did. So that would lead me to believe they are related somehow, and wonder if it is him that showed up on the tax record for Tazewell for the one year in 1814. My John named a son Samuel and that name was used in every generation all the way to my generation.So......
Back to Eunice.. I wondered if she was a sister until I was told that she was an Allen by marriage and was first married to a Carter.Which does not surprise me because there seems to be a lot of Carters married into my family lines there.Norris Carter married Agnes Carter and I have been trying to figure out if she might have been John's aunt as Norris had a son that married a Mary Roller Neal, the widow of JB Neal.My John married Esther Jane Neal and in his will made Hezekiah P. Neal of Scott Co. an execurtor of his will along with her. He does not referr to him as his brother in law but as his friend, and I have not been able to find any other indications that they were brother and sister, possibly cousins though. But if the Mary Neal was the mother of H.P. and she married Johns cousin..... I know its a long shot, but you never know..
Maybe something I have said here will line up with something someone else knows and make more sense of all of this.
