I have since found out that Sanford and Eleanor/Nellie (Chapman) were both born in Brown Co, Ohio in 1810.They married in 1827 in Pleasant, Brown Co.At some point, between 1827-1838 they moved to Mississippi. They had at least three children that I know of:Nancy, Ary Anna (my great, great Grandmother) and Sanford Jr.
In 1844, Sanford was sent off to Biloxi to recuperate from his consumption - I believe at a place called the "Springs"(?).His daughter Nancy went along with him, presumably to keep him company. In his letter back home to Nellie, he complains that Nancy never visits with him and is always running with a gaggle of kids.He also says that he "can't believe she'll grow up to be of any account".Apparently, Nancy grew up to become a wonderful woman and was considered the favorite Aunt in the family.Sanford died in July 1844, about a month after the letter was sent.Nellie and young Sanford Jr. died 4 years later, I believe.
Ary Anna Allen moved back to her parents home state of Ohio sometime prior to 1860 or even 1850.Possibly to live with her paternal grandfather John Allen or maternal grandfather Henry Chapman after her mother's death.
In 1860, Ary Anna married William Light Taylor and they remained in Ohio for the rest of their lives.Their children include: Frank b. 1861, Mollie b. 1862, William b.1865, Louis b. 1867 and John b. 1869.Unfortunately, any trace of both Ary Anna and William Light disappears after 1880.
