Ted, I went and looked at every given name for the Allen family that looked anything like Doss. I found Dossie Allen a 19 yr old white single male born may of 1881. Living with head of house H. King as a hireling. Farm laborer . no education could not read or write and spoke english. Jackson County, Arkansas, Township of Cow Lake.1900 census. He was born in Tennessee as was his mom and dad. And then I have the census you told me about with Alva and Elva. in 1930. Some one told me he had a draft card registration in 1918. But I think they said Doss C. Allen. (hmmm Dossie--Doss C.)But I cant find that message on my old msges and I dont know if I printed it out or not. And Im not masterful enough at this yet to know how to get the ww1 draft card registration. I get frustrated with geneolgy.com but of course it could be the operator. lol.
Before my dad died he took me to Forrest City Arkansas, and told me I was meeting my last living relative. I met Minnie and Rector Drew. He took me to a cemetary and told me my kin was burried there. So I went to the web page with Earle, Crittenden County Arkansas Cemetaries. I got a hold of a Debbie she sent me some info on Minnie Drew, It seems as if her mother was Florence Ethel Allen Carter born 8 aug 1882 In germantown, Tn. She left there when she was 17 and ended up in Earle Arkansas and married Robert Lee Carter. If Minnie was my 2nd cousin then her mother and my grandfather, the elusive Doss Allen was brother and sister.
Minne was listed a Minnie Lee King and a sister Willie Mae Drew. here comes the arkansas bit. It seems Willie Mae's husband was Rector Drew. And guess when she was gone then Rector married the other sister, Minnie. Agian any help from anyone would be appreciated. Thanks, Vickie
