Doug, you are right it is a rare name, You said he and his wife moved to Washington I found a Dorsey Allen living in District of Columbia, division of Washington City.in 1900. says he is married but no wifes name. Says he is living with his sister, Bettie(E?) Butler, With her son John S and daughter Gertie C. It shows he is 48 yrs old
(which is about the right age)and shows Bettie Butler being 48? It shows Bettie is a Widow. Does any of these name fit into you family line? Did Your grandfather and grandmother have any other family besides Dorsey? Do you know a date of birth on Dorsey E. Allen? If any of this fits in with your family line would you share with me? My Father was Elvin Allen twin of Alvin Allen Born in Smithdale Arkansas. In August 1914. Elvins father was Doss C. Allen Who was born in Tennesse. He married Dovie Barnes In remmell arkansas in 1902, then in 1910 they lived in Earle Arkansas. In 1914 they lived in Smithdale Arkansas. Also in 1918 they were still in Smithdale because I have a copy of Doss' WW1 draft registration Card. then on 1930 census it shows Dovie as a widow.

Dorsey Allen would be my ggrandfather. Doss was his son. Something went very wrong for Dorsey and Janie, I say that because of Florence. She said she just barley remember other kids being around, but dont know if they were sibilings or if she was in an orphanage.

PS I wrote this with the mind set that your grandfathers son Dorsey E. Allen was my grandfather. But what if your gfather is my ggrandfather. hmmm. Could you give me more information on both Dorseys, Do you know when your grandparents got married.
