Hi Linda, This is very interesting. I haven't been able to prove beyond a shadow of doubt that the John Allen married to the Elinor that show's up in the Surry County records is the same as my known ancestor John Allen who's first wife was mentioned in a Tazewell County Virgina deed as Eleanor.. But I just have a strong feeling they are.The Isaac and Francis that was there is what helps to support my theory. My John Allen (with a wife Eleanor) showed up on the then Russell County tax list the next year after the Surry County John Allen sold his land in NC... then the year after the Surry County Issac ( with a wife named Francis) sold his NC land... a Isaac Allen shows up on the Russell county tax list in the same district as my John (and wife Eleanor)... I know that the Isaac Allen that settled there in what was then Russell County.. later Scott Co. VA was married to Francis Pettit.
A lot of the names you mentioned fit into my Allen family also.ie: John and his second wife Esther Jane Neal ( my 4xgrandmother)named their first son Thomas. As well as there was a Thomas Allen that I am pretty sure was a brother to my John ( anyway he came to Tazewell when John did and I find his daughter's husband witnessing land transactions for my John). Also just for kick's.. my great grandfather's name was Benjamin Harrison Allen.
I have another Allen line that comes from Capt. Adoniram Allen of the Rev. War that was there in Surry County..not far from where this John and Isaac were living.. that I am now trying to see if they are not related.
I would love to hear from you more about what you have on this Thomas and family to see if I can fit him in somewhere.. LOL
Oh yeah.. some of the grand children of my John Allen also went to Indiana.. as did a brother to my John named David who went to Green County early.. btw 1830-1840.. then died before 1850.
Look forward to hearing from you, Sheila Allen-Winterberg
