Coincidence.I have Jordan J. Moore b/lost in VA c1788, & subscribe to Joyce Browning's "Moore News".He was next found c1837 near Atlanta, GA - but back to Allen.
Person Co., NC:Jiney Moore to Young Drury Allen, 21 Dec 1812 (Stokes Allen, Ira Lee)Martha J Moore to Robert S Anderson, 9 May 1858 (Jas Wright, Dpt) m. 9 May 1858.
The reference in "Moore News" might be a different Stokes Allen than the one found on the 1800 census in Abbeville Dist. - but he could have backtracked in 1812 if a son met the "love of his life", md at the bride's home in Person Co., NC.They traveled back/forth more than we like to believe.
Some of the information on Josiah Allen may have been taken from an old DAR app - which weren't always correct. One question I have is when Josiah Allen's first marriage took place.Tamie lists 1780, but he would have been age about 46 then. I feel Josiah may have had a first family from a marriage c1755, most of them fully grown by the time he married the 3rd time.I emailed her, haven't heard from her yet.She mentions a Stokes-Allen connection.
Josiah was in the Edgefield District, SC on Little Saluda River.A "cuz" sent URL for a 1775 map listing Allen & McMahan on Turkey Creek in Abbeville (96 District) and Allen near Little Saluda www.Camdenproject.org Click on "Mouzon map" towards bottom, 2nd column from right.
When you get to the map, look just NW of the "T" in 96, find McMahan and Allan (or Allam). To find Allen on the Saluda, follow the creek or wagon road SE.
